Two days before the epic two‑weekend run starts, Belgium’s fabled Tomorrowland has faced a setback: the Orbyz‑themed Mainstage went up in flames on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the De Schorre grounds in Boom, north of Antwerp. The result: nearly 75% of the stage was destroyed, with dramatic videos showing fireworks igniting amidst thick black smoke .
Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the blaze — likely accidental — is under investigation . Nearby woodland was briefly affected, with local authorities advising nearby residents to stay indoors until the smoke subsided.
Despite the dramatic fire, Tomorrowland 2025 is still moving forward as planned. The DreamVille campsite officially opened on Thursday, July 17, signaling that the festival’s first weekend will not be canceled. Organizers have reassured attendees that the show will go on, with minimal disruptions to the full festival schedule.
While the iconic Orbyz-themed mainstage was severely damaged, headliner performances will be redistributed across the remaining 15 stages, including the fan-favorite Freedom Stage. Major acts like David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, Fisher, Martin Garrix, and Lost Frequencies are still confirmed and will take the stage as scheduled, just in new locations.
For many festivalgoers, the fire was a heartbreaking moment—but not a dealbreaker. Attendees interviewed by local news outlets described the mood as a mix of “shock and sadness” but noted that the good vibes remained strong. Fans are already applauding the Tomorrowland team for their fast response and creative pivot, preserving the spirit of one of the world’s most iconic music festivals.

As one of the world’s largest EDM festivals, drawing ~400,000 attendees from 200+ countries, Tomorrowland was expected to bring in €100 million to the Belgian economy. While the insurance and rebuild costs are likely immense, the festival’s resilience underscores its global cultural pull.
