The Victoria Ska & Reggae Society is honoured to keep the punk vibes going this spring with another eclectic evening of heavy sounds featuring Ignite, The Corps, and Corrode. Friday May 29Lucky BarDoors: 7:00pmFormed in 1993 in the suburbs of Orange County during the height of Seattle Grunge and the Epitaph Records punk revival, IGNITE have made a career defying convention with against-the-grain music and thought-provoking, politically charged lyricism. The current lineup includes Eli Santana (vocals), Brett Rasmussen (bass), Kevin Kilkenny (guitar), Nik Hill (guitar), and Craig Anderson (drums). Ignites sound is a dynamic mix of hardcore, skate punk, and melodic hardcore, drawing fans from numerous scenes with their intense performances and powerful message. The Corps is a melodic skate punk band from Vancouver, Canada. Examining personal and societal issues through the lens of the DC comic book universe, the band has seen international success with their unique lyrical content. Told from the perspective of heroes and villains alike, each song contains a fantastical tale that encourages repeat listens and exploration into the featured themes. Corrode is one of the hottest rising bands in the Victoria scene. Blending punk energy, ruthless beatdown riffs, and claustrophobic metalcore breakdowns, the group provides a uniquely visceral take on hardcore that could only be developed in Vancouver Islands eclectic and vibrant musical community. Scope their latest split EP with Slewfoot to see what the group is all about.
